Melanoma
The aim of the melanoma research groups is to investigate early responses to ultraviolet radiation in skin, and how defects in normal responses contribute to the development of melanoma. This work will improve the early detection of melanomas by clinicians. New, more powerful microscopy technologies will also be investigated to further increase the diagnostic options for clinicians. These techniques will also facilitate the ability of researchers to study the early pathogenesis of melanoma and how exposure to the ultraviolet radiation in sunlight promotes melanoma.
